Disrespectful vs. Fearful

No one will keep a horse around that is aggressive and disrespectful for safety reasons, but a lot of people own and tolerate fearful horses. Let me be very clear - A fearful horse will hurt someone just as quickly as a pushy, dominant and disrespectful horse will. For example, I’ve seen lots of horses when they get frightened jump into their owners, knock them down and run over them, not because that horse meant to, but because that horse was fearful. Imagine riding a horse like that. The bottom line is, a fearful horse is just as dangerous as an aggressive one, and it’s not if someone gets hurt, it’s just when and how bad. It’s important to address a horse’s fearful behavior, and it’s possible.
